Asset mapping is the process of identifying and tallying the resources or assets within a community. ‘Assets’ in this context are not purely economic in nature and they can be identified in a variety of forms – from the skills of individual citizens to the beautiful scenery in which a community is located.
Community mapping starts by identifying and locating what already exists. It then looks for opportunities to use and build on these existing resources.
